|1081009||1. Is there any career opportunity in NTHU itself? (any full-time or part-time job?). I like the university environment.
2. Does NTHU have any collaboration with any company to get jobs in there?
3. Is there an employment shell who directly helps us to find jobs. This type of office (department) in the university collects details (resume) from students and help them to find opportunities.
|This question has been asked by international students for many times. I
understand the situation of international student to find jobs in this society is difficult. There is some information in Office of Student Affairs. In reality, big companies do not systematically announce their complete job opportunities to the university. I also suggest you to summit yourresume to the HR departmentof these big companies.

Reason: In past 4-5 years no foreign students who have graduated from NTHU ( especially Indian) haven't been hired in TSMC. However, TSMC has been hiring IIT graduates from India. With the prior experience and exposure to working environment in Taiwan, NTHU students should be preferred.
|We contacted TSMC. According to the information they provided for us, they have around 20 employees from India. They didn’t reject students from India. During spring and autumn, TSMC is recruiting people. Last spring, there were 150 vacancies in Hsinchu. The standard is the same for those channels. But if you speak Chinese, there will be more opportunities and chances. For the RD department, they can accept English-only employees.|
|1091021||1. Does the university has any support or job offer for fresh graduated students?
2. There are job affairs or carreer days jn NTHU, however, most of them are in Chinese. Are there any specific job vacancies that international students can apply for? And what the preseident will plan to help students to easily get a job if they want to stay and work in Taiwan?(學務處綜學組)
|President) I suggest you to talk to the Chairman of your department. And also contact those alumni association to reach some alumni graduated from your department in material science field. You are in an industry that has lots of successful entrepreneurs graduated from NTHU. Try to seize those chances.
(Vice President for Student Affairs) If you really want to work in Taiwan,Chinese ability is very important, since you have to communicate with your colleagues. Of course if you work in the science park, you may have more chances to propose your ideas in English. But in terms of job offers in Taiwan, companies tend to recruit candidates with basic Chinese communication ability. In NTHU, we provide workshops to help international students write resume and prepare for job interviews. If you are looking for a technology-related job, in addition to holding regular job fairs on campus in spring and autumn, Taipei Computer Association holds career seminars at NTHU every spring. For more information, please contact the Career Center on our campus.
|1090520||What is the scope of services of the career development office? What is the advisory to foreign students who are planning to work in Taiwan? Are there services related to resume writing, interviews practices and how to get to know the job market in Taiwan and how to stand out in a market where the preference is for local graduates?||(Vice President for Student Affairs) There is a career development office inTSMC building so you can receive help from them. I think they provide mentoring for students seeking positions of different fields and offer many meaningful activities. In addition to that, the Office of Global Affairs also provides some careeropportunity announcement and information for students who are concerned. Under the Office of Student Affairs we do have a career office which provides all kinds of information for international students. Typically, we hold campus career fairs in spring and fall. Furthermore, we also have resume writing workshop and we even hold a resumecompetition recently. For this activity we have coaches to correct students’ resume and teach them how to present themselves. We do provide many different career related services. However, we probably do not have a good channel to reach every one of you. We’ll strengthen the service on this front. Moreover, for those companies that want to hire international students they will definitely offer related information in English on our school website. Maybe you can try to engage more.(President) This year is a bad year. Normally, we run the job fair in March but because of the pandemic it was canceled this year. Some alumni told me that based on their working experience,Chinese ability is an important advantage for international students who want to work in Taiwan. I wish you can get all the information you want. If you need any help let me or Dean of Student Affairs know.|

|1080410||I have noticed that many companies have completely no understanding of what students do in their master or Ph. D. studies, and that many companies doesn’t seem to open jobs to foreigners. What can I do as an international student to cope with these problems?||Some smaller companies tend not to hire the international students. We do hold a job fair specifically for international students on campus and the big companies join us. I believe you can get information from your Indian fellow circle since as far as I know there are many Indians graduating from NTHU working in large-scale companies in Hsinchu Science Park.|
|1091125||1.I’m from Vietnam and my department is chemical engineering. So, I have a
question about the Chinese language ability. So actually, we have taken the
conversation class in Chinese and we can communicate a little bit. But in the
actual work, we need the academic Chinese, right? So, I would like to ask about the English ability and the basic conversation skills in Chinese. Is it enough for working in the company in Taiwan? And how strong is the job opportunity for foreigner students? And, another thing is, like undergraduate in Vietnam, we have the industrial trips for senior students to get familiar with the industrial zone. So how about in Tsing Hua for master students? Because we work in the project, and we do the science thing, but we don’t know what actually in a company we can do. Can school provide some industrial trips for us?
2.My last question is that is it possible to have internship talk about job
opportunities in Taiwan, including the environment expectation for the future applicants, especially the foreigners?
|1.(President) Yeah, it’s a good suggestion. It’s always good for them to see the working environment in the industry. About the language ability, that’s what we talked about just a moment ago. Yes, mandarin is useful. So, the more you can handle the mandarin conversation, it’s more helpful definitely.
2.(Vice President for Student Affairs) As the president said, we have many requirements from this event. There are many requirements about Taiwan’s job opportunity for foreign students. We are going to offer particularly for foreign students recently. We will talk about the job opportunity, communication skills and resume writing. We have the Career office, under the division of student affairs. There are English webpage you can look into to find job opportunities for students. We also offer several trips during the year to different kinds of companies. And ofcourse, we’ll enhance our marketing to let more people be informed.
